I wish the communication was better, there were several times when I tried to reach out to the lender and she would either unreachable or flustered because I was asking too many questions. Being a first time home buyer, I was expecting to have a better support/understanding personnel. There were also times when the lender and assistant were not on the same page which was frustrating for me as the buyer.

I feel Karen did a good job. She was trustworthy and responsive. What I wasn’t happy with was your underwriting division when it came to the loan itself. The information they requested, in my opinion, was far too great based on the position that we are in financially. Again I trusted Karen but I don’t think she was working with the best underwriter. That person appeared to be a young underwriter with little experience. I would not use your company again.

Closing on time. Having more ducks in a row prior to closing - example, asking for COO evening before closing. On a positive note, He always answered his phone and was easy to get ahold of.

It would have been smoother if the Representative knew a bit more about real estate rules regarding signing and rate changes/larger down payment relationship and relayed that to the customer in a timely manner. He also asked me to have my husband sign and I had to push back and explain that didn’t make any sense. It made me feel like I had to educate him and It made the process more stressful and frustrating for me. He was very pleasant and responsive in general but I felt the need to escalate things to Sergio as I wasn’t getting true answers to my questions. I don’t like made up excuses on why my rate wouldn’t go down when asked to increase my down payment. I am a competent adult who has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. In the end I let it go, but I expected a better explanation at the time.

Better communication of conditions needed from buyer. Also, it came across that some of the procedures with CalHafa should have been done prior to submission. It felt like we were always 2-3 days behind in the process and we never caught up.

I guess better communication and a faster process. I would have thought someone would have checked actual payoff on my existing loans before having cash out checks being written on numbers gathered 60 days prior. I should have asked prior to signing final docs I guess. But in the end it all worked out.
