The communication was one the worst I've ever experienced. Most of the time when we communicated it was because of me reaching out to see about the status of the loan. Sometimes didn't call or emailed back when trying to communicate. It felt like I was being ignored. It took almost 4 months to get the refi done. Dealt with several people in the process. It only was 45 days to buy our home 4 years ago. The refi was almost three times longer than that to get the refi done. It was not personal, just very frustrating. This was an unbelievable process for us all. I'am glad it's finally done and happy with our decision initially. NAF is a good company overall.

I would like to say it wasn’t Matt, however he was not very responsive and the person he worked with, James Mckibbon, was devastating to the results of Matt. James is evasive, non-committal, a terrible communicator and leaves a lot to be desired in his interaction with customers.

I was working with my mother to help her a loan. New American Funding is one of the lenders we applied with. My mother was going through the county for additional DPA funds and I've just received an email back stating that they can't complete third party documents when all that was requested was that they submit the completed loan app to the program. I sent the same exact email with info to the other lender we were working with and they said no problem. I'm annoyed more than anything that I wasted valuable time gathering and submitting documents just to get nowhere.

On the day of close, there was an error on the appraisal and I felt that everyone involved on the lender’s side, did not have my best interest in mind and solely wanted the loan to close. The processor and loan consultant insisted the appraisal was correct even though they had no idea if it was in fact accurate. Come to find out, the appraisal was inaccurate and had I listened to them and closed the loan I would have overpaid $25,000. What would have made it better would be knowing I am in good hands. On the day of closing, the manager Melissa Pearce, would not take my phone call and insisted that I email. I understand I needed to show a paper trail and proof of funds, but had she been timely and called me as I requested I would have been able to get the appropriate documentation. This delay caused the loan to close a day later after the date we needed to close by. A much better way to handle it would have been to call your customer as requested, especially on the day of closing if there if a hiccup.

The communication was awful, had to call several times to figure out what was going on. At the beginning ill admit he seemed pleasant. He had asked me if i could do some side work for him in which he never paid me for. Proceeded to not respond and run out the time on my appraisal. Still haven’t heard back from him in regards to anything! If you want to refinance, id choose anyone else besides him.

These are just a few things that could have made our experience better overall: Better communication, being more knowledgeable about FHA and USDA loan qualifications on housing and or catching disqualification between the two. Keeping up with paperwork/inspections. Working with realtor more closely and answering questions more directly. If certain issues were caught by being more knowledgeable it would have saved us thousands of dollars.

I prefer to work with someone who responds to my emails. It takes several follow-ups and calls to get a hold of Kevin. Overall, I felt like NA employees were only responsive when demanding for signatures and documents, but unresponsive when I had a question. Overall, I wasn't treated as a valued customer. The moment I moved forward with the loan I became a low priority. If it wasn't for the new refi tax, I would've cancelled. Went with a small company for better customer, guess I was wrong.
